When people first start out using squidoo to make them money through affiliate programs, they usually fail. Why? Because they don't grasp what squidoo is really about and thus they make their lens into and affiliate advertisement. This is a horrible marketing tactic.

Squidoo is used for one purpose, to help the audience. That's it, it's not used to sell something. No, no, no. Today, when people are browsing the internet, that is exactly what their doing, they're "browsing." They aren't browsing on the internet to immediately buy something. NO. They are simply looking for the information that they want to look for. This is the idea of web 2.0. People are using the internet as a guide, to help point them to the right direction. That is what your lens should be doing, it should be providing information to your audience, to help them better understand what they're looking for. Your lens is a filter, not an advertisement campaign.

Your lens should be a resource to your audience. Not a one stop buying gallery. Your lens needs to have valuable information in it, so then your audience will keep coming back for more, to get more information from you. You are their guide. Create a resource, and the profits will follow. That is what marketing is all about and will always be about. Resources. Nobody will buy from you if they cannot trust you. They have to learn to trust you, before they can buy something from you.

Your lens is all about information, not your product. Point them in the right direction, be a professional, and soon your profits will increase.
